Whether you’re decorating your home, putting together an outfit, or redesigning your website, color palettes come in handy. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have the best eye for coordinating colors, so the ability to see the colors paired up helps immensely. Luckily there are a bunch of sources out there for color inspiration.
Design Seeds
Design Seeds is a site full of color palettes picked from gorgeous photos. You can even browse palettes based off of certain colors, so if you love a particular color in one palette, but don’t like the rest of the colors, you can view other options.
Kuler
Kuler allows you to select a color and view different color pairings based on that color. The mobile app allows you to choose a color palette from a picture on your phone — great if you’re suddenly inspired by something while out and about.
COLOURlovers
COLOURlovers is a color palette treasure trove. There are over 3 million color palettes available, so you’re bound to find one for every project. And on the off chance that you don’t, there’s also the option to create your own.
The Perfect Palette
Although The Perfect Palette is targeted more towards weddings and parties, there’s still plenty of color inspiration to be had. You can search by color or you can view their collection of color palettes. Unlike the other color palette sources, The Perfect Palette focuses more on the inspiration aspect of colors, so you won’t find as many premade color palettes (although there are still tons available).
Color Collective
Perhaps one of the best lesser known color palette sources is Color Collective. Started back in 2010, this blog has hundreds of color palettes that are pulled from various sources, such as photography and design. Besides being a great source for color, the accompanying images are great sources of inspiration as well.
